My Foggy Day
Wow! What a fast summer this has been and this Saturday, August 14, is your last opportunity to take in one of our region’s innovative experiments in jazz production.
Master’s of Jazz is the brainchild of Stevie Vallance, a songstress of considerable talent who moved to Southampton recently and rejuvenated our jazz scene. Joining local musicians in familiar venues such as Top Flyte Jazz she attracted a dedicated following of fans.
An ambitious decision to mount a series of concerts at Bruce Museum in Southampton has met with some success throughout the summer in spite of a jazz calendar that has been chock full of other gigs and some unavoidable glitches in travel plans.
She enticed leading talent from Toronto and elsewhere to come to Grey Bruce. Among these seasoned entertainers are notables such as Keiren Overs, bass, Richard Whiteman, piano, Tom Posgate, guitar and Bob Brough, sax. Full lineup is on Masters of Jazz website.
Saturday’s lineup is equally impressive with Ted Quinlan, guitar, Ted Warren on drums and, for the first time this season Roselyn Brown on flute. Fronted by Stevie’s vibrant personality and polished voice, the evening promises to be a show-stopper. Don’t miss it.
Bruce County Museum is on Victoria Street in Southampton. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. Tickets $25.
