DIVAS FOR LIFE was 'born' from the free-flowing spirit that comes from combining 'Gift' with 'Giving'.
The 'Do-Good' DIVAS... "Six jazz singers have raised a whack of
money for charity with a benefit that just won't quit", writes Alexandra

DIVAS For Life all started in the of Spring 2000 when Vancouver Lifestyles magazine profiled six top female vocalists: Laura Crema, Dee Daniels, Karin Plato, Kate Hammett-Vaughan, Tammy Weis and Stevie Vallance. But it didn't stop there...
During the photo shoot, the six women talked about the importance of using what they know best -- their voices -- to help raise money for people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. They chose The Vancouver Friends For Life Society, an organization dedicated to supporting over 1300 people living with the daily challenges of such illnesses.
In a whirlwind Stevie Vallance's company, H'art Creations Inc., booked The Vogue Theatre and sponsors signed on. All the Divas helped to promote the event and Music Director Michael Creber prepared charts for the city's top Jazz musicians. The hard work was worth it. 'Divas for Life' was sold out, with people scrambling to buy 'standing room only' tickets. Jim Gordon, Paul Grant and Jurgen Gothe hosted, and CBC Radio recorded the concert. The magic continued...
H'art Creations then negotiated a national distribution deal with Fustion 3 for the CD, 'DIVAS For Life - Live At The Vogue', which was released to rave reviews in a series of sold out concerts, as part of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. With three new vocalists in the mix: Jennifer Gasoi, Christine Duncan and June Katz, the magic spread.
The following year, on Valentine's Day, another sold-out concert dazzled the Vogue's 1250-seat audience, with 'Divas for Love, Divas For Life: 02'. The celebration of 'love and hope' was hosted by Vicki Gabereau and Paul Grant, and the concert featured vocalists: Lee Aaron, Christine Duncan, Kate Hammett-Vaughan Angela Kelman, Karin Plato and Stevie Vallance.
DIVAS For Life raised over $75,000 for Friends For Life.
